SAFIYANU AHMED YAVALA
Ag. Director, Afforestation & Land Management (ALM)
Safiyanu Ahmed Yavala is the Ag. Director in the Department of Afforestation and Land Management (ALM), National Agency for the Great Green Wall. He was born on 20th May 1969 in Ibi, Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State, Nigeria.
Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in Environmental Resource Management with the Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK). He holds a Masters’s Degree (MSc) in Environmental Science from the University of Bucharest, Romania which he obtained in 2014.
A Postgraduate Diploma in Food Science and Technology (PG FST) from the University of Agriculture Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria in 2012, and he also obtained Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from the Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, Bauchi State, Nigeria in 2001. Mr Ahmed received his Higher National Diploma (HND) in Food Science & Technology in 1994, National Diploma (N.D.) in 1990, West African School Certificate (WAEC) in 2009, General Certificate of Education (GCE) in 1985 and School Leaving Certificate in 1979.
Safiyanu Ahmed began his career with Faro Bottling Company Ltd Yola, Adamawa State, as a Production Technologist from 1990 to 1991 and Production Supervisor from 1991 to 1992. He worked with Nicon Noga Hilton Hotel, Abuja, 1997 – 1998.
He joined the Federal Civil Service as a Laboratory Technologist with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) between 2000 – 2001. He then moved to the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) as a Scientific officer and rose to an Assistant Director level from 2001 to 2018.
He transferred his services to the National Agency for the Great Green wall (NAGGW) as Assistant Director Planning Policy and Coordination Department (PPC) in 2018. He was promoted to Deputy Director, Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Building Department in 2020.
Safiyanu was appointed as Ag. Director of Afforestation and Land Management Department (ALM) in 2022.
