AHMED MAJIDADI  BAGUDO

Ag. Director, Rural Development and Extension Services 

Ahmed Majidadi Bagudo, is the Ag. Director, Rural Development and Extension Services of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall (NAGGW) Nigeria. He holds a Master’s Degree (MSc) in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria. 

He started his career (1990 – 1991) as a Lecturer and Assistant Head of the Department of Agricultural Science, Federal College of Education, Potiskum, Yobe State. He worked as an Agricultural Officer in the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Kebbi State. He served as a Project Manager with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) Kebbi State and FCT Abuja from 1996 to 1999, where he managed the overall direction, planning, coordination and implementation of the NALDA projects. 

Ahmed Bagudo served as Assistant Director/Head of Division, Planning, Policy and Data Bank under the Department of Rural Development, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Abuja, Nigeria. He attained the position of Acting Managing Director/CEO of Arable Crops Development and Marketing Company, a parastatal under FMARD, Abuja.

Since he joined the Agency in 2016, Ahmed Bagudo has worked on several developmental projects targeted at developing and implementing an integrated approach to Sustainable Land Management that is crucial to minimizing land degradation, integrated water resources management, including the provision of boreholes, drip irrigation services, promotion of rural livelihood and extension services including coordination of Skill Acquisition Centres, capacity building and empowerment of women and youths as well as facilitation of alternative livelihood. Ahmed Bagudo was also charged with the responsibility of providing rural infrastructure, including rural feeder roads and other basic rural infrastructures, in addition to promoting renewable/ alternative energy and ecological restoration of degraded ecosystems, using appropriate techniques and technologies. 

The Acting Director has over thirty years of experience in different fields of Agriculture and Rural Development, Agricultural Commodity Development and Marketing, Agricultural Resource/Community Mapping and Rural Infrastructure Survey, and Community Based Rural Development Project Planning and Implementation in Nigeria. He also served as a Resource Person/ Team Leader in conducting the Annual National Agricultural Performance Survey under the National Special Programme on Food Security/NAERLS, ABU Zaria, between 2013 – 2016. Ahmed Bagudo was similarly privileged to serve under the Presidential Committee on Flood Disaster in 2012. Recently, on 13th January 2023, he was inaugurated as one of the members of the Presidential Committee on Ecological Based Intervention Programme in Nguru Emirate, Yobe State. 

He also received professional training in Strategic Change Management Course, Effective Strategies for Retiring into Agriculture and Agro-Allied Business, Effective Management of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises from the Agricultural & Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI), Nigeria, and International Training on Participatory Rural Development from National Institute of Rural Development Hyderabad, India, 2012 amongst other reputable professional organizations in the course of his career. 

Ahmed Bagudo attended numerous conferences and published articles/papers/thesis, some of which included:
